the door we didn’t expect pt. 2

I don’t think we fully realized what was happening… until people started walking through the door.

A week and a half after California, we hosted our second Open House.

This time, we went bigger.

Crawfish boil.
More invites.
More expectation.

We sent out around 70 invites.

And if I’m being honest, there was a part of me wondering…

What if no one comes?

People started showing up.

And they didn’t stop.

Fifty people filled our home.

Fifty.

Our living room turned into a hallway of conversations. The front yard filled up. The backyard started to matter real quick.

Kids running everywhere.
People shoulder to shoulder.
Laughter, stories, connection.

It was loud. It was full. It was alive.

And it hit me…

This isn’t an idea anymore. This isn’t a dream. This is happening.

This is the part that gets me.

Almost exactly a year ago, we pulled into New Orleans not knowing a single person.

Not one.

We felt small. It was intimidating.

Now?

Our home is full of people who know each other… and somehow all found their way here.

You can’t manufacture that.

That’s God.

In the middle of all this momentum…

We found out we’re pregnant.

Baby number four.

Didn’t plan it.
Didn’t expect it.
But here we are.

And if I’m being honest, it’s stretching us.

Emotionally.
Logistically.
Spiritually.

But it also feels right.

Like God is building something bigger than we can fully see yet.

We’re not trying to overcomplicate this.

We’re just responding to what’s in front of us.

But we do need help.

We need prayer.
We need wisdom.
We need provision.

We need to create space that can actually hold what God is sending.

Because right now, it’s already pressing the limits.

This verse has been grounding us lately:

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed… perplexed, but not driven to despair… struck down, but not destroyed.”

That’s the tension.

There’s pressure.
There’s stretching.
There are moments where we don’t have all the answers.

But God is in it.

And He’s faithful.

At the end of the day, this is what we know:

This isn’t hype.
This isn’t strategy.
This is God building something… one relationship at a time.

And we’re just trying to be faithful with what He’s putting in front of us.

If you want the full story in our voices, we recorded a VLOG and shared everything there.

More soon. 🤙🏻

Love you!
